Validation study of the Indonesian internet addiction test among adolescents

Background Internet addiction is a serious problem that can negatively impact both the physical and mental health of individuals. The Addiction Test (IAT) most common used instrument to screen internet worldwide. This study sought investigate psychometric properties an Indonesian version IAT. Methods IAT questionnaire was made focus forward translation, expert panel discussions, back item analysis (30 subjects), pilot (385 field testing (643 subjects). Factor structure analysed by exploratory (EFA) confirmatory factor (CFA) analyses, whereas reliability measured with Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. Results revealed IAT, consisted 3 domains, had good validity (?2 p < 0.001; RMSEA = 0.076; CFI 0.95; SRMR 0.057, AIC 784.63). score 0.855. A significant association also observed between level gender (p 0.027) duration use per day 0.001). Conclusion provides in three-dimensional model. Therefore, it be utilised as tool for screening population.
